England is renowned across the globe for its magnificent architecture and a history that stretches back thousands of years. Over the course of its rich and eventful past, it has been described as a green and pleasant land, a sceptered isle, and even a nation of shopkeepers. It has long served as a symbol of democratic ideals and a stronghold of intellectual and ideological freedom. Landmark achievements such as the Magna Carta, the King James Bible, and the modern welfare state all originated here. For many visitors and observers, it remains one of the most curious, remarkable, and sometimes puzzling places in the world.
There is so much to do in England's capital city, London: Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye, Madame Tussaud's, Tower Bridge, dozens of museums and art galleries, Trafalgar Square, Marble Arch, Hyde Park, Greenwich, the Underground, and the Tower of London.
Historic Chester, dating back more than 2000 years to Roman times, is an excellent choice as a base for exploring Northwest England and North Wales. Liverpool is an easy 30-minute ride from your Chester accommodation. Basketball teams will have the opportunity as well to visit The Cavern, birthplace of the Beatles and the start of their Magical Mystery Tour.
